Mevcut salgın durumundaki psikolojik belirtilerin kişilik özellikleri ve koruyucu önlemler ile ilişkili olduğu öne sürülmektedir. Bu araştırmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin kişilik özelliklerinin ve Covid-19 ile ilişkili koruyucu önlemlerin depresyon ve anksiyete belirtileri üzerindeki yordayıcı rolünün incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırmanın örneklemini, Türkiye’de yaşayan, gönüllü olan 457 (235 kadın–222 erkek) 18-30 yaş arası üniversite öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Kişilik özelliklerinden dışadönüklük, sorumluluk, nevrotiklik, uyumluluk ile depresyon belirti puanı arasında ilişki bulunmasının yanında, anksiyete belirti puanı ile sorumluluk, nevrotiklik, uyumluluk kişilik özellikleri arasında ilişki bulunmuştur. Koruyucu önlemlerle anksiyete ve depresyon belirtileri arasında ilişki bulunmamıştır. Depresyon belirtilerini uyumluluğun ve marjinal seviyede nevrotikliğin, anksiyete belirtilerini ise sadece uyumluluk kişilik özelliğinin yordadığı bulunmuştur. Mevcut çalışmanın, kişilik özellikleriyle psikolojik belirtilerin ve koruyucu önlemlerin arasındaki ilişkisiyi anlamada kaynaklık edeceği düşünülmektedir. Covid-19 sürecinde uyumluluk ve nevrotik kişilik özelliğinin depresyon belirtilerini yordamasının kişilik özellikleri ile psikolojik belirtiler arasındaki ilişkiyi anlamada önemli olduğu görülmüştür.

It is suggested that psychological symptoms in the current epidemic situation are related to personality traits and protective measures. In this study, it had aimed to examine the predictive role of personality traits of university students and protective measures related to Covid-19 on depression and anxiety symptoms. The sample of this study consisted of 457 university students (235 females- 222 males) who are between the ages of 18-30, they are living in Turkey and they participated to this study voluntarily. There was a correlation with personality traits such as extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism, agreeableness and depression symptom score and besides of this a relationship was found between anxiety symptom score and conscientiousness, neuroticism and agreeableness personality traits. No relationship was found between preventive measures and symptoms of anxiety and depression. It was found that agreeableness and neuroticism in marginal levels predicted symptoms of depression whereas only agreeableness personality trait predicted symptoms of anxiety. It was thought that the present study will be a source for understanding the relationship between personality traits and psychological symptoms and protective measures. It has been observed that prediction of depression symptoms by agreeableness and neurotic personality traits during the Covid-19 is important for understanding the relationship between personality traits and psychological symptoms.
