Abstract:
npj Gut and Liver is an online open-access journal dedicated to publishing rigorous and high-quality peer-reviewed research across the spectrum of hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and luminal gastrointestinal disorders. The journal particularly acknowledges the need for an impactful platform for translational and scalable findings that can impact understanding, diagnosing, and advancing treatments for gut and liver conditions. The journal aims to establish a unique platform through which stakeholders across the disciplines will learn about the latest, most notable advances in digestive research. Original research encompasses cellular, molecular, and organ-system pathophysiology, interactions with diet and microbiota, mechanistic biomarker discovery and clinical trials targeting specific disease mechanisms or pathophysiology. The journal also publishes Reviews and Perspectives on recent developments in relevant areas of gut and liver research. We routinely organize and commission collections covering specific topics and encourage open discussions and debates. npj Gut and Liver is led by renowned international scientists at the forefront of gastrointestinal and liver research and aims to attract the most impactful discoveries in the field. The editorial team works hard to guarantee a diversity of topics and authors and global visibility. Example topics of interest in this journal include, but are not limited to: - Disease mechanisms across the gut-liver-brain axis - Novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches with potential clinical impact - Host interactions with microbes and diet - Epithelial and immune pathobiology - Novel endoscopic and tissue engineering techniques addressing disease mechanisms - Powered and rigorous clinical trials targeting disease mechanisms - Bioelectrical devices for measuring and treating digestive functions - Novel protocols for understanding gastrointestinal and hepatic dysfunction in humans or in translatable pre-clinical models Pre-submission inquiries If you are unsure about the suitability of your work for the journal, please submit a pre-submission inquiry to npjgutliver@nature.com.
